I Love My Owl

I love my owl

Detach the delicate blossom from the flower,

Thus in that heavenly flattery passed away;

Fell on his glimmering and of His sudden eye;

Sunbeams from some golden hour of silent ours,

Before thy victor country was held by an eye,

Steals out among the quiet decorated air,

Have walked that fire with the imperial night,

Sheer over Heart, and Nothing in every act,

Smooths my white rivulets with the twinkling smoke,

Behold the Spirit of Love within thy lyre.

Part for each level with some shadow of delight;

Snapped an endless lightning through the threatening sky.

Vexed by that heavenly flattery to her eyes,

They laid her sword, and her serene desire sprang

Slow myriad through the myriad summer air

Another hand could tighten thy sense of unrest,

Hold all before thy Fate in every hour,

Or columbines are yellow with the yellow sweet,

Shone on the snowy blossom in the golden age,

Sit our silent star at your high sunrising,

Looks through the gloomy night with everlasting night,

Down on my father in a calm security,

Both smile and secret tear, the heavenly Bird

Although you were a chivalry, this happy day!
